Dogs are my “thing” at the moment!

I am so enjoying painting the variety of dogs there are that I seem to have moved away from my favourite subject of big cats (lions, tigers, etc), Do not fret though, I am sure my love of the wild animals will bring me back to the gorgeous big cats again before too long – just have to get the dogs out of my system first!

Both painted in oils, one on 25×30 canvas, and the other on 21×27.9 canvas! (Why do they have such odd sizes?!) I hope you enjoy them.

Pet portraits … this time for friends!

Completed this week, these two pictures of dogs. Both pictures were created in mixed media (acrylic, watercolour pens, and oils). The two dogs together are on a 40×40 cm canvas and the Border Collie on a 30×30 canvas. I enjoyed them both in different ways and I hope you do too! It is always a joy to see someone happy!

Latest news.

I have been SO busy lately! Painting wise I have managed to finish a commission painting – more details on that another time – and this one, another Tiger!

This latest one is a new way of working for me – a trial. I have been using a lot of different materials and media, and finalised it with oil paints. It was an inspiring experience! I hope you like the end result! Painted on a 40 x 40 canvas.

At last – time to paint!

I have been totally preoccupied with arranging/planning/helping with a wedding and have put my painting on the back-burner for far too long! The wedding turned out to be even better than expected, relaxed and friendly, beautiful weather and location, and was thoroughly enjoyed by all present, so at least giving up my painting for a while was worth it!

My first oil painting this year is this beautiful cat. He is painted in oils and is on a canvas board 40 x 50 cm. I hope you like him as much as I really enjoyed painting him! (The colours haven’t come out true to life in this photo, but it will give you an idea.)
